Now that the scene it set, I bring you to listen to Flo Rida and his song "Sugar." With one website, I was able to confirm my radio finding. The link will bring you to "Who Sampled;" their tagline being "exploring and discussing the DNA of music." They had me at DNA.
I decided that I had to share this website because after you view it, you too will spend time exploring it's cavern of knowledge. My favorite is the Mint Royale video sampling from Gene Kelly's "Singin' in the Rain" (see below or here). It's curious to look at both sides from the samplers and the samplees. This truly is the DNA of music. To keep my radio story going, 6 out of 8 of the next songs the station played had sampled from music I already knew. I commend anyone who can take a great song and keep making it interesting. Key word: interesting. I'm still on the fence about "Sugar;" in my opinion Eiffel 65 should be kept in the 90s.
