A number of weeks ago, I reviewed volume 2 of Talking House Records' "Blueprints of Jazz" series featuring Billy Harper. (see the article here) Harper's complex yet soothing sounds pair beautifully with Amiri Bakara's poetry on select album tracks. He's easily one of the most underrated jazz sax players of his time, as evidenced by this video taken at a recent concert in Poland, complete with chorus:
